Head Strength Coach
Jeremy is UnScared's head strength coach, while also educating people on nutrition, lifestyle and related subjects. He is also an avid gamer and organizes board game nights at UnScared whenever he can. After a childhood of playing video games, avoiding sports, being obese and faking stomach aches so he wouldn't have to go to swimming class, he finally found a passion in martial arts and strength training at the age of 20 and in coaching shortly thereafter. He is as committed to getting the people at UnScared stronger, fitter and healthier as he is to spreading his love for nerdy stuff.
Kevin is a coach at UnScared CrossFit. He has been coaching for 5 years now, mainly focussed on CrossFit and weightlifting, but also works as a personal trainer and strength PIMP. The former waterpolo player and strongman is passionate about helping people get better in whatever sports related discipline they are or life in general. The barbell is his buddy, partner, savior, medicine, favourite piece of furniture, weapon, Mjolnir and broomstick. Also, he believes there is a Hulk. At UnScared Kevin hopes to contribute to the awesome team, by doing what he does!
Edward is a full-time coach at UnScared and has a broad range of experience in many different sports such as soccer, track and field and kickboxing. However, he always missed something in these sports. When he ran into CrossFit it combined everything he searched for in a sport. CrossFit challenged him to train every aspect of his fitness. This resulted into a serious addiction to improve and optimise his movements. Because Edward used to always be a teacher in physical exercise at a high school, he has a lot of experience in teaching and improving movement. His passion is to help people progress and improve their movement regardless of their current fitness level. He also loves to help people in discovering what their body is capable of. His ambition is to grow as a CrossFit trainer and definitely also as a CrossFit athlete.
Sanne 'Billenveld' has a background in professional dancing. After performing and giving dance classes for two years, she studied Law and started doing CrossFit. After doing CrossFit for a couple of years, she switched to Olympic Weightlifting. Sanne won three overall Dutch national titles and competed at the European level. Coach Sanne loves to throw heavy barbells around, coach and eat copious amounts of candy. She's also a star at making you laugh during your class.
Cecily is a CrossFit, Strength and Olympic weightlifting coach at UnScared. She devoted most of her young life to competitive swimming and gymnastics, only to discover UnScared and fall in love with CrossFit and Olympic Weightlifting. She now spends her days studying computer science, doing snatches and baking protein-filled goods. Don’t let her love of fluffy animals and British accent deceive you however, her puns are still unBEARable.
Ben came to UnScared from the US and is a lover of all sports that use your hands. He formerly played American Football for his university as well as club level basketball, baseball and athletics. Upon finding CrossFit there was an instant connection due to the positive, team oriented community of people working to be their best and he's been hooked ever since. He's looking forward to helping forge a community of fitter people, butchering the Dutch language and also getting a few workouts in himself. Biggest vice: Coffee and chocolate, preferably together, acceptable apart.
With a background in training and coaching gymnastics skills, fitness group classes Mariska brings a lot of experience to the table. The fact that she works with teenagers as a school teacher, surely helps Mariska keep all the athletes in check during class! Being a mother of two herself, Mariska experienced that training needs more adjustment then "no abs during prefgnancy". As UnScared's pre- and postnatal training coach she found her passion. Making you confident and give you insight in safe ways and the best practise for your pre- and or postnatal training is her goal.
Coach Sval is probably one of our most skilled CrossFitters AND has years of experience in one-on-one coaching at multiple esteemed gyms. Via lifestyle coaching Sval can help you with the normal things in life, eating 'normal', losing/gaining weight in a 'normal' way and focussing on your long term goals. Sval gets you to the next level in your (advanced) CrossFit skills, and also helps out athletes improve in whatever sports they play outside of UnScared by targeting weaknesses and improving sport-specific skills!
Lecturer, coach, nutritionist. In short, that's who Kenneth is. After doing the UnScared Coach Course a couple of years ago he is combing a position at the university with a roll as coach here at UnScared. "The coaching here gave me a different perspective. I knew I enjoyed helping people master difficult math problems, but I realized through coaching that it's more than that. I get so fired up if people make long lasting changes that benefit them the rest of their lives. These changes are not just about their 2k rowing time or their 1rm deadlift. Those are outcomes. I'm talking about all the other input factors: movement, sleep, nutrition and self-care". Recently, he shifted more of his time from the university towards coaching in general so don't hesitate to shoot him a message!
Genny is a hybrid of academic thinking, people loving, boundary challanging, heavy lifting and nerd safari-ing all wraped into one. Her main goal as a coach is to use the depth and breadth of her knowlede to help athletes develop, flourish and get the most out of whatever it is they are determined to achieve. She approaches everything with a gung ho attituted and passion and gladly uses this energy to help people around her. P.S she is supremely gulliable in the presence of chocoalte cake.
After years of gymnastics, running and lifting weights Tamara started to combine the three in CrossFit a few years ago. Next to a heavy and long CrossFit workout, she loves to lift heavy weights on the OLY platform. As a CrossFit coach she came across more and more pregant and post natal women who were looking to train in a safe way. This is why she specialized in pre and postanal training because she is convinced that it is important to keep moving during the pregancy and to start training again after birth in a responsible and safe way.
Imme fell in love with CrossFit at the age of 15, after doing gymnastics for a long time. CrossFit immediately felt like coming home. Her goal is to give you the same empowering and positive experience that she has while training at UnScared. She loves learning new things, motivating people and every CrossFit movement that doesn't require having long legs. Next to coaching, she is studying physiotherapy. This helps her to become a better coach, and develop her knowledge of the human body in motion.
From a young age Stephen has been obsessed with sports and through football, squash, judo, hapkido, the gym and ultimately CrossFit he found a sport that can challenge him both mentally and physically and offers the team- and competitive spirit that he so longs. As a former P.E. teacher at a high school he was devoted to teaching young kids the importance of sports and moving in general. Now he hopes to do the same at Unscared and help athletes get the best out of themselves. Sidenote: in his spare time, he has a quite serious relationship with his Playstation.
After doing gymnastics for several years, only one step into a CrossFit box was enough to convince Jiske to replace the gymnastics hall for another playground. However, the love for gymnastics is still alive. Teaching new skills or improving people's movements is what excites her the most, but she loves the physical effects behind it too. You can find her studying physical therapy at the Hogeschool Utrecht during the week. Besides learning the ins-and-outs of training, she loves to train herself as well. You can often find her on the platform to learn to lift the best she can.
Madelon a.k.a Mads is one of our Full Time CrossFit coaches and a former physical therapist. She has spent many hours in the swimming pool to perform as a butterfly swimmer. After she quit she began to train in a regular gym until she fell in love with CrossFit. Since she decided to compete in several events she trains every day to get stronger, better and fitter to stay in the top 10 of the Netherlands. As a proud member of UnScared Crossfit she is excited to coach all the members and get the best out of them.
Jochem is part one of a two-man team heading the UnScared company. He likes talking business, loves to coach people and thrives on setting up new projects. His main responsibilities are business development and marketing. When he is not in the gym he prefers to crash on his mountain bike, getting into a pillow fight or eating chocolate.
As one of the owners of UnScared, Willem opened the gym with co-owner Jochem back in 2015. Willem used to compete in powerlifting and studied Philosophy before he served as UnScared's Head Coach in the early years of the gym. Nowadays he is responsible for the UnScared's finance, HR and communications. Willem also coaches gym owners through the Build A Better Box platform and gets excited about anything involving either large groups of people or caffeine; preferably both.
