Inner Outdoor Adventure: One week in the French Alps

Inner Outdoor Trip Activities CrossFit Breath Work Cold Exposure

You find yourself scrolling through your screen again. What were you doing anyway? Exactly.

This is why the Inner Outdoor Adventure was created: One week into the French Alps, completely offline, with both outdoor sports that challenge you and inner work that helps you reconnect with your authentic self and inner compass. You let go of what drains you and do what makes you feel alive. June 23 - 30, 2026.

What's this all about?

A week of camping with some CrossFit on the side? No.

This is an offline immersion in nature. Six full days of adventure and excitement: rock climbing, via ferrata, mountain biking, mountain hikes through the Alps. Combined with awareness that grows through meditation, breathwork, cold exposure and authentic connection with others.
No screens. No distractions. It’s you, the mountains, and 14 others who want the same thing: to connect with what really matters to them.

We camp for five nights, do a two-day mountain trek with an overnight in a gîte, and dive into outdoor activities. Coach Roald and trainer + good friend Robin Wahle will guide the entire week, assisted by the expert team of Crux Outdoor & Education.

Want the full story? Watch Coach Roald explain it in this video.

This trip welcomes anyone who wants to join, whether you train at UnScared or not. So if you know someone who'd be up for this? They can sign up too.

Why would you do this?

Because somewhere you feel stuck in routines that aren't yours.
Because you know you've got more in you, but the busyness of your life doesn't give you the space to discover it.
Because the edge of your comfort zone is exactly where growth lives.
Because you care about personal growth.

You disconnect from your busy life, slow down. Nature becomes your guide. You embark on an adventure that's both fun and challenging. And you learn to connect more deeply with yourself and others, without all the noise and distractions.

Who is this for?

This is for you if you:

  • Love outdoor sports (or think you will)
  • Know that the best things happen right outside your comfort zone
  • Want a physical challenge
  • Want to grow as a person and (learn to) connect deeply with others
  • Want to let go of the noise and feel what really matters

What does a day look like?

Morning
We start with meditation, breath work, and movement practices inspired by CrossFit, capoeira, acrobatics or breakdance. Then we dip in glacier water (oh yes indeed!), followed by a breakfast that will taste better than ever.

Afternoon
Outdoor activity, like rock climbing, via ferrata, mountain biking and hiking.

Evening
Inner activity. Group exercises, sharing, authenticity. Going deeper with yourself and the group.

In between
Plenty of time to do nothing. Read a book. Walk. Talk. Throw a frisbee. Kick a ball. Or just sit and let the mountains work on you.

What's included?

You pay €1497 for the week. That includes:

  • All outdoor activities including guidance from Crux Outdoor
  • All your meals & snacks + coffee, tea. Prepared by cook Arland Swaak (who is also a bushcraft guide by the way)
  • Accommodation in a gîte (during the mountain trek) and camping (five nights)
  • A comprehensive program, facilitated by your two trainers: Roald Penning and Robin Wahle
  • Six full days of programming plus two travel days

Not included: your travel to and from the French Alps. You arrange that yourself.

Programme in short

Day 1 (June 23) - Arrival
Pitch your tent. Get to know the group. Hand in your phone, watch, and other screens.
We’ll welcome you with dinner and an intro session to set the tone for the week.

Day 2-7 - The programme
Every day is a mix of meditation, breath activation, cold exposure, functional fitness, outdoor sports and inner experiences.

Day 8 (June 30) - Going home
You get your screens back. You return to your life. But not the way you left.
